Since SeaSucker bike racks aren’t bolted on to rooftop bars, we came up with a way to keep your bike safe. A Cable Anchor is just what it sounds like – an anchor point to securely connect a cable loop to your car. The Cable Anchor – Trunk, has a steel rod that closes inside a trunk or hatchback seam, the plastic dipped coating protects your car’s paint.

With SeaSucker's cable anchor solutions, you can lock your rack securely from either your trunk or windows using a cable lock! These products are small enough to fit in your glove box so you never have to worry about leaving them behind in your garage.

- - 8040 Akita Cable Lock manufactured by OnGuard.
- - To attach, place in the gap between the trunk/ hatchback and the car. Close your trunk or hatchback so that the Cable Anchor’s hole is exposed.

Cable works as expected and the little bracket that goes in between your exterior and interior trunk works great too. After my first use however, the key did completely break off of it's plastic which was a little concerning but this is a separate company from seasucker and they also provide like 6 spares so I am not worried. The broken off piece from the 1/6 keys can still be superglued and used.

The cable work great except when cold it is really rigid
the key for the lock are super cheap... broke 2 in the 1st attempt to open the lock even if i was super gentel. and the 3 other one are all crack already

If this review was for just the trunk anchor, that part deserves 5 stars (genius idea, great execution).
However, the keys for the 6' OnGaurd Cable lock are way too flimsy. As you can see in the photos, I broke two of the five supplied keys just trying to unlock the cable. At first, I couldn't unlock the thing at all with any one of the keys & had to try several times (breaking two of them in the process). And this happened the first time I tried to use this lock. (See also my review for the 10' cable lock.)
I've used several OnGaurd locks & cables in the past and have never had trouble with them at all: they are usually well-built, quality-made products. I have no doubt these particular locks will work well, but am disappointed that the keys don't seem to reflect the quality with which the other parts are made.
